July 4, 2023: The Familiars

Manny and Linda Dias are The Familiars of Cape Cod. They sing and play folk, fiddle, country, Irish, and popular music from the 1950s through the 1980s. Manny sings and plays guitar. He has been active in the Upper Cape folk music scene for several decades. Linda is a classically trained violinist with a passion for fiddle style music. She also plays mandolin, harmonica, Irish whistles, and Celtic harp in a variety of musical styles. They will be joined by Frank Carotenuto of the 82nd Street Band.

July 11, 2023: The Rum-Soaked Crooks

Tom Goux, Jacek Sulanowski, Dan Lanier have been cruising the New England shoreline (and beyond) for the last three decades and have inflicted much musical and poetic damage with a pungent mix of sailors’ chanteys, ballads and ditties.

 

The Crooks have shared their songs and stories at festivals and maritime events across the country and in Europe, and have recorded on the Smithsonian-Folkways and Whaling City Sound labels. Their repertoire spans three centuries of seafaring melody and verse, featuring an exceptional sampling of Cape and Islands sea songs and poetry. 

July 18, 2023: Stanley & Grimm

Celtic duo Stanley & Grimm entertain with a celebration of traditional music through old and new interpretations of jigs, reels, and songs played with lively fiddle, guitar, and voice. Fiddler Nikki Engstrom and singer/guitarist Sean Brennan create a musical journey through a bounty of fiddle tunes and ballads of all origins, alongside modern tunes and songs they have composed.

The duo takes its name from the makers of Nikki’s fiddle and bow, fiddlemaker and inventor of the Stanley steam engine, F.O. Stanley, and Grimm, respectively. 

July 25, 2023, Kim Moberg and Heather Swanson

Kim Moberg was born in Juneau, Alaska, the daughter of a classical pianist mother of Alaskan Native Tlingit descent and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Kim has received numerous recognitions, most recently 2021 Rocky Mountain Songwriting Contest Finalist, the 2021 Great American Songwriting Contest Folk/Americana Finalist,and more.

Heather Swanson is a classical violinist who crossed over to folk and traditional Celtic music. She performs with with her daughter, cellist Krista Lucich, as the Cape Violin Cello Duo, as accompanist for Kim Moberg, in an Irish folk music duo, and, most recently as part of the musical ensemble in “The Piano Man” at Cotuit Center for the Arts.

August 8, 2023, Denya LeVine

Our templates are the perfect solution

Bringing a joyous energy to every concert, Denya LeVine is a well-known performer of ethnic music. With early roots in classical violin, she learned a wealth of styles working at the Fillmore East Rock Theater and traveling the world, absorbing and sharing vocal music in the British Isles and Europe, living in England, Afghanistan, India, and elsewhere in Europe and Asia.

In recent years she has visited Borneo, Costa Rica, Morocco, and Singapore. She frequently visits Ireland and Cape Breton Island, immersing herself in those ethnic music traditions, and returning with fresh inspiration.

August 15, 2023, Kathleen Healy

Singer/songwriter Kathleen Healy writes from the heart. She draws from her experience of living and raising a family on the Cape for many of her songs. She finds the river and the beach to be “excellent metaphors for the changing nature of life.”

Healy recently released her second studio album, “Embracing the Journey,” a collection of original songs about “this journey we are all travelling, the highs and lows I’ve weathered along the way, and the incredible people I am blessed to have encountered.”

Country Flavored

The Country Flavored Band performs classic country songs by country legends such as George Jones, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, and many others. They also include folk songs with a country flavor, as well as play ballads and ‘honky tonks’ by The Mavericks, Johnny Cash, Wayne Hancock, and Bruce Springsteen.

Band members are Roger Rebeiro on vocals and rhythm/lead guitar, Frank Carotenuto on vocals and rhythm/lead guitar, and Ben Carnevale on pedal steel guitar. They often include an electric bass guitar player.

Andrew Sexton

Andrew Sexton performs an eclectic repertoire of jazz standards, originals and selections from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Vocalist/guitarist Andrew Sexton chooses tunes that have lyrics or stories that have a special meaning for him. His honest vocal delivery and unadorned guitar work is supported by Alec Zeuli on saxophones.
